RHAPSODY IN BALLOONS#4731 - pub. 2004 @ 60 Minutes David's "floating legs" technique gives these figures realistic proportions and makes them really cute. He only uses 260 balloons but gets excellent detail with bubble sizes and colors. I'd call this medium to advanced in difficulty. The instructions and video are clear as David goes at a comfortable pace. These figures are fast enough to be usable and fancy enough to get attention. He uses Grey, Orange, Brown, White, Yellow, and Green on this DVD. I really like his Billy Goat on a Hill and Dave really likes the Alligator/Crocodile but every figure here is outstanding. Great stuff, Get it. This DVD is a complete combination of 2 videos, BEGINNERS ONLY and QUICK AND IMPRESSIVE BALLOON CREATIONS. They sold for $30 each so the info on this DVD has sold for $60. Dave's not making the videos anymore, this great stuff is only available on DVD. BEGINNERS ONLY From VHS video description I would have titled this "Balloon Twisting for Dummies." It is very clear about how and why twisting a balloon works. It's kind of like watching a cross between Mr. Rogers and Mr. Science teach balloon twisting. If you think twisting balloons will be hard for you to learn, this is your tape. I highly recommend it for a beginning tape. David goes a little past beginning by showing you how use a 2nd balloon for a different color nose and breaking a bubble off inside a balloon. His real goal point is to give you the techniques to go as far as you want and he does an excellent job. The elephant, dinosaur, and aardvark are also on his beginners video. Pay attention to his Sharpie eyes and details, it is simple but adds a lot. He also talks a little about how he makes twisting entertaining. This DVD teaches you a very nice female figure wearing a gown that can be done in 10 to 15 minutes. David shows how the figure can be Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, a Bride or the Birthday Girl by using color, and details.. He demonstrates making 4 hair styles, a tiny bow and ribbon, an apple and an amazing tiny rose out of only 260's,. The picture and instructions are very clear. David's done an excellent job. |

Dave's taken people figures he's done on previouse video tapes and put them together on a DVD. He moves right along with the balloons pre-blown and common pieces pre-made. He assumes you have the basic skills and very clearly but quickly describes what and why. He even shows you how to make a stand from a cup and stick and some foam board. These figures use 6 or 7 - 260s and only 260s. All the figures look great with the kind of details that are needed but not really that hard to do. The figures include: Ballerina, Fireman, Banjo Picker, Uncle Sam, Devil, Clown, Santa, Witch, and Fairy. |

These are new figures by Dave. At least they are not on previous tapes. Again, they are all great. And once you learn them, you will be able to come up with your own variations. On this DVD, Dave actually uses a Black 9"Round and some glue, but just to get Batman's head right. Everything else is made from 260s. Oh, he uses a couple of pennies, a paperclip and a straw too. Great stuff, Dave has a creative and organized mind and it really shows up on this DVD. The figures include: Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Chopper and Rider, Pirate, Dr. Ben Dover. |
